laptop bonanza
Saturday night, I responded to Mark's urgent text of, "I'm bored, come over and we'll search online for hiking gear and boots."
Well, I can't really pass up an offer like that.
He happens to have FOUR laptops. I certainly wasn't going to look on with him, I wanted my own. So a few hours later, Caters came. She now had her own laptop.
The three of us sat there until 1 am....no, 1:30, on facebook, boot shopping, emailing, and Mark had his DJ computer with all of his music on his so he played music for us. Old school stuff I haven't heard in years. It was wonderful. And completely dorky at the same time.
Loved it!

Team Satey conquers Tea Time!

Caters invited me to tea time at the Altamont Old Stone House Inn on Sunday. It's a bed and breakfast and once a month the 'innkeeper' hosts a tea time for women to come to.
It's sorta funny cause when you think of 'tea time', the thoughts that come to mind are:
dainty,
petite,
proper,
etiquette,
good manners,
cute......
basically everything that I'm NOT.
So when she first asked me, I was naturally a little hesitant because I wasn't sure just how far out of my element that I would be. However, it ended up being a perfect break from the ordinary and I'm looking forward to next month.

Upon arrival we were warmly greeted and asked to sit out in the living room area while all the stuff was preparing. At that point, it was just Cate, myself, and some other woman who hated life, hated the world, hated everything. After listening to her complain about her rental car, and how she's used to driving a truck, and how she hates snow, she hates NY, she hates everything about NY, she hates the weather, she hates life....yada yada....I just started cracking up silently and looked the other direction, and just left the conversation up to Cate. I don't do too well with that kind of stuff. Cate, you did a marvelous job with that by the way, I don't think I told you that yet.
Then, THANKFULLY, the hostess came in and brought into the dining area and allowed to chose a table. We chose one of the tables for two right near the window. It was perfect!! Beautiful scenery. There was a choice of three teas; English Breakfast, Chamomile, and some African Meadow herbal tea. I chose the African one and Caters went with the English Breakfast. Vivaldi was playing softly in the background, I believe there was a little Four Seasons action going on. And there was glasses of ice water with fresh sliced lemons in it. Funny thing is, the lemons weren't squeezed, and we wanted the flavor from them, so we scooped them out and were hand squeezing them ourselves. We also had a wide assortment of spoons and forks, and totally had no idea what was used for what. But it was a wonderful variety.
Then the first course came out, which was assorted tea sandwiches. They were teeny tiny halves, and there were 4 of them. They were delicious and we scarfed them in mad quick. I then took a second, looked around, and realized that everyone else was still eating and savoring these tiny morsels. Oops. I guess you're supposed to eat slow. Anyone who knows me knows I don't really know how to do that.
Second course was homemade apricot scones with Devonshire cream. I've seriously never tasted anything like it. Because of my stupid sugar and flour free diet, I only was able to eat a tiny bit. And that was HARD to do, it almost mad me cry. I already had to take the bread off the sandwiches from the first round and only eat the bottoms. LOL
Third round...and at this point we were on our 4th glass of water and about the 10th cup of tea. It was assorted desserts, the tray that you see above. We got that whole thing at our table. Lemon squares, chocolate covered strawberries, creme puffs, and shortbread cookies with raspberry jam. Of course again, I couldn't eat any of it. But I took a picture for memories and got to watch Caters enjoy it all.

It was a wonderful afternoon. We got to chat and catch up and unload all the stuff that we've been going through lately. It was soo relaxing and such a break from the ordinary. We were probably the only two who didn't have a full head of gray hair too.
:)
Four stars, and I look forward to doing it again on March 22nd.

My heart's cry and current prayer
This might hurt
It's not safe
But i know that I've gotta make a change
I dont care if I break
At least I'll be feeling something
Cause just OK, is not enough
Help me fight through the nothingness of life.
I don't wanna go through the motions
I don't wanna go one more day
Without Your all consuming passion inside of me
I don't wanna spend my whole life asking
What if I had given everything?
Instead of going through the motions.
Take me all the way......cause I don't wanna go through the motions....
God, I am Your's....
