I love my life!

Today was amazing. In fact, this entire week has been wonderful. Team Satey has in fact conquered everything from ruthless auto salesmen, to showroom floors, every town within a 30 mile radius, horses, quads, shopping, Red Lobster parking lot stalking, Afghanistan and Pakistan food 2 nights in a row, pots of coffee, and no sleep. On my way home tonight, the thought occurred to me that never again will my life be this free. So I'm making a pact to live the craziest and do the wildest and most things that I can possibly do right now.

After church today I went out to my parents house, who live mad deep in the country. We were having a family BBQ today. My niece and her boyfriend brought her quad over and that was the beginning of the fun!!!!!!

While I was there, my cousin Rachel walked over on her horse. Would that be considered 'walked over?' Anyway, this is about a 2k pound workhorse. HUGE. And yes...I told you my parents live mad deep. So we're all out on the front lawn and my 10 lb chihuahua decides that he's gonna start barking and growling at it. That's my baby, takes right after his mama!!! Then the horse started peeing. I now understand the term, "I gotta pee like a racehorse." Wow...that was an insane flow of urine.

Then the quad fun started. As you can see from the following videos...Cate and I emerged from the woods screaming like a bunch of idiots. I think we spent upwards of hours on the thing throughout the course of the day. It was a little freaky being on it without a helmet on though I must admit. But it was such a free feeling it was wonderful! And of course me and my addictive personality...that's all it took and now I want my own and I'm now dreaming to become a professional quad rider and do that for a living. I am going to be so sore tomorrow...that is a WORKOUT on that thing, believe it or not. We had endless land to travel on and we took advantage of it all! The scenery out there is breathtaking!

And last but definitely not least, my favorite video....we wanted to catch the sunset because we could tell it was going to be beautiful. We tried to get to the highest hill surrounding the house. These hills are not mowed and the grass and brush was about as tall as the quad. We all wanted to go over, so now the term 'quad' takes on a whole new meaning. FOUR OF US...yes, four of us...all hopped on the one 4-wheeler and took it across the hills. One on the racks on front facing us, my sister was 'driving', Cate behind her, and me on the metal bars on the back. Was it painful? Yup.
But the sunset was AMAZING and worth every second of it.

And now...I'm back home in the ghetto......and my adrenaline is still flowing.
I am beyond blessed...I truly am.

TROY, N.Y. -- With Mother's Day just around the corner one local group is taking the opportunity to give back to underprivileged mothers and it's an event that has caught on across the nation.Mothers and More held its "Power of a Purse" event at the Troy-Cohoes YWCA this weekend. Women who call the facility home were able to pick out a purse from a large selection of donated bags. The organization needed a donation of about 100 purses, but got more than 500 new and like-new bags for the event. While a purse may not seem like a lot, one organizer says sometimes the selflessness and hard-work of mothers goes unrecognized.

The power of a purse
With Mother's Day just around the corner one local group is taking the opportunity to give back to underprivileged mothers and it's an event that has caught on across the nation.

"And all of these women are going to take a purse and it's going to symbolize their financial independence and getting back on their feet and allowing them to empower themselves economically,” said Michelle Hook, from Mothers and More.
Various 'Mothers and More' chapters in New York, California and Ohio are taking this idea and implementing similar events in their communities.

This was a great time yesterday. My brother Mark DJ'ed the event (with his friend Mike, as seen above), people from Zava's hair studio in Clifton Park gave dozens of free haircuts and styles, restaurants from around the Capital District donated delicious food, my mom did Mary Kay facials to the mothers in one room, the children got to make jewelery and cards for their mothers, and of course as you read, the mothers go to get purses. Cate and I volunteered around wherever needed.

It was a great day and a blessing to be a part of it. The woman were definitely blessed.

and this little girl could DANCE!!!!

Award Winning Island

I wanted to find a nice park outside somewhere to walk around, enjoy the weather, and the awesome sky and sunset. I was in the town of Schenectady and I have no idea where anything is there. So we consulted the GPS for parks and recreation.
Who wouldn't automatically try "Pleasant Valley Park"?? I mean, the word pleasant evokes so many wonderful images.
Hmm.....we never found a park. However....we did find this Award Winning Island.
It was an 'island' that was about 5 feet around, in the middle of the ghettos of Schenectady.
Who needs the Caribbean when we have islands like this right at home in our backyard?
